Accounting without judgement
Accounting can feel intimidating. Too often, people come to an accountant expecting to be told what they've done wrong.
That's not how I work.
I qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant in March 2004 and founded Maeflower Accounting CIC to provide the kind of support I believe more people deserve - approachable, practical and tailored to the person in front of me.
Before establishing the practice, I spent over 20 years working in finance across organisations of all sizes, from small businesses to multinationals, in sectors spanning defence, education, banking, insurance, transport and medical technology. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation of the challenges organisations face and the importance of clear, reliable financial information when making decisions.
My own experience of discovering I was neurodivergent later in life has influenced the way I communicate and support clients. It’s helped me understand that people process information differently and that there is no single right way to learn, work or manage finances. As a result, I place a strong emphasis on explaining things clearly, as many times as needed whilst avoiding unnecessary jargon - adapting my approach to the person in front of me.
Like many of my clients, I’ve had to balance professional responsibilities with caring responsibilities and understand that life does not stop when there are deadlines to meet. Sometimes what people need most is not another complicated explanation, but practical guidance, patience and someone who will meet them where they are.

I have a particular interest in supporting CICs and organisations creating positive social impact. As the founder of a CIC myself, I understand the opportunities and challenges that come with balancing purpose and financial sustainability. At the same time, I work with commercial businesses across a wide range of sectors because every business owner deserves access to clear financial information and supportive professional advice.
My aim is simple: help people understand their finances, make informed decisions and feel more confident about the future.
